Meet Chef Melanie
Hey! I’m Melanie Degelman, the Owner and Operator of Lakeside Local Food Truck, and a local resident of the North Shuswap for 15 years now. I have always dreamed of having a food truck, and now, I get to do something I love everyday.
My hubby Allen always say’s “you’re the only person I know who plans the next meal over having a meal!”
One of my strongest passions in life is... FOOD! I’m a foodie at heart, and SO SO love connecting with people through my love for food. Feeding friends, new and old, feel good, healthy, sustainable, local goodness, is such an important part of me. Living a healthy lifestyle and finding balance in your everyday is not always an easy task. That’s why I’m here! I source and support local farms, which I believe is very important. I try to include organic ingredients when I can, and grow some menu ingredients in my own home garden.
Some of you may remember my old pizza place at the Anglemont Marina called Lakeside Pizza! I was there for 5 years feeding the boating community yummy pizza for lunch and dinner. In the spring of 2024, I purchased a brand new trailer, and my husband and I built the food truck from scratch! It was completed in time for all my summer events, and now, I have decided to keep feeding the lovely local people of the North Shuswap, 4 seasons a year!
You can find me around the Shuswap at summer events like “Wine Wednesday’s at the Celista Winery”, “Music in the Bay” in Blind Bay, or “Friday Night Live” in Scotch Creek. I also do Ball Tournaments, Private Events, Staff Parties, Luncheons, Small Weddings and more!
